Welcome to a new kind of student living experience, designed with you in mind. We have a great facility for student accommodation because we genuinely care about how you want to live. Living at our campus isn’t just about buildings, it’s about safe, secure homes where you can study and socialize in comfort.

All students who have confirmed their acceptance of a place at United College of Education are guaranteed college accommodation on campus throughout their period of study. Students have the option of either being resident or non-resident. There are ten hostels which have three floors each.

Each floor has twenty rooms and thus each hostel has a carrying capacity of sixty resident students. The standard accommodation is a single room with a bed, study desk, chair, easy chair, wardrobe and shoe or towel rack. On each floor there is a bathroom with four showers, a bath tub, four wash basins and a separate toilet.

The demands on student health centers are greater and more complex than ever. More students today come to campus with significant health needs, including mental health challenges. And many need help managing serious conditions like asthma, eating disorders, addiction and physical disabilities.

Young adults are at a critical juncture in development. As they learn to manage their own health and health care with less parental oversight, they are forming habits that will affect well-being, learning, and personal and career fulfillment over a lifetime.

For the above reasons the college has a clinic that caters for the students’ health. The clinic is manned by a qualified nurse who is resident on campus. The nurse is on duty for twenty-four hours. The clinic is for both resident and non-resident students. Students report to the clinic any minute when a need arises. Some of the services offered at the clinic are as follows

Primary Health Care

We provide accessible, high quality, comprehensive medical care for students during their time at UCE

Counselling and Wellness

Short term individual counselling, group counselling and self-improvement classes.

Nutrition

Counselling for students with nutritional concerns as well as other medically diagnosed conditions.

Physical Therapy

Specializes in rehabilitation for performance and sports injuries, orthopedic disorders and traumatic injuries.

The role of the Chaplaincy is to help deepen the spiritual and ethical life of the campus. We provide students, faculty, and staff with opportunities to explore the integral relationship between faith and learning, connecting the work of the mind with the heart and soul. We serve people of all faiths as well as those exploring spirituality in their lives.

There is no resident Chaplain on campus. However, there is a chapel, a unique building bringing together the many faith groups represented on campus and in the wider community.  Built in 1969, it consists of a spacious congregational room that can accommodate 60 people and two side rooms that can be used as meditation rooms. The chapel and its meditation rooms are always open and available for private prayers and meditation round the clock.

The College Christian Union, which is interdenominational, meets with counterparts from sister institutions and regularly organizes prayer retreats. The Christian Union convenes for Bible sharing at the college’s main campus every week on Wednesdays between 1900 hours and 2130 hours. Chaplains from various institutions around Bulawayo are invited to come and share religious issues with the student body on this day. It is also during these meetings that members discuss their challenges and offer each other relevant solutions.

Our Dinning Hall which has a capacity of 800 students is the main dining facility on campus. This is where students get together to fuel up nutritionally and relax in between classes. Our food is homemade and freshly prepared by our chefs. If you have any special dietary requirements, please inform a supervisor so that we can better accommodate your needs.

In addition to providing fare to its students, faculty, and staff, Our Hall offers catering services to assist in hosting on-campus events. Our services cater for a variety of needs, from extravagant four course dinners served on linen dressed tables to less formal gatherings.

If there’s one thing you need to know about our chefs, it’s this: They want to hear from you. If you have a question, a comment, a suggestion or a critique, let them know. They make a point of making themselves available in the dining halls, so feel free to walk right up and chat. And don’t be surprised if they do the same.

At UCE we provide the IT services that the college requires to fulfil its mission to be a world-class centre for research and teaching. As well as the core IT systems, tools and services that keep the college running day-to-day, we provide innovative services and projects to support learning, teaching and research. Our work is wide-ranging and diverse – explore what we do in the sections below.

User Support: One of the most important things we do is to help users across the whole college get the most out of IT and deal with problems when they arise. Our service desk staff include experts in almost all aspects of college IT. We’re on hand to answer a huge range of queries – from lost passwords and broken laptops, to business system enquiries and issues of information security. We support students, academics, and administrative staff, whether they are working in UCE, at home or abroad.

Network Infrastructure: We provide the networks that keep everyone at UCE connected to each other and the outside world. We manage college Ethernet, which provides fast links between systems. We also maintain the links to the internet. We provide the central infrastructure that allow students and staff to access internet through Wi-Fi using their mobile devices

College administration support: We provide the IT tools and systems that keep the University running – from student records and finance to fundraising, research grant management and human resources. As well as making sure these systems are operating smoothly, we provide and manage access to them and offer training and documentation for the people who use them.

Training Support: We provide it resources, both classroom-based and online, for all staff, academics and students at the college.

Our goal at Reprographic Services is to provide the college community with high quality printing, digital copying and bindery services. Lecturers and other staff members also use the facilities to reproduce handouts and other materials for the students’ benefit.

We are open 8 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday. Turn-around times for copy and bindery jobs are generally 24 to 48 hours, depending on our volume of work. We make every attempt to complete your job as quickly as possible, and can often do small jobs the same day or while you wait
