At UCE we provide the IT services that the college requires to fulfil its mission to be a world-class centre for research and teaching. As well as the core IT systems, tools and services that keep the college running day-to-day, we provide innovative services and projects to support learning, teaching and research. Our work is wide-ranging and diverse – explore what we do in the sections below.
User Support: One of the most important things we do is to help users across the whole college get the most out of IT and deal with problems when they arise. Our service desk staff include experts in almost all aspects of college IT. We’re on hand to answer a huge range of queries – from lost passwords and broken laptops, to business system enquiries and issues of information security. We support students, academics, and administrative staff, whether they are working in UCE, at home or abroad.
Network Infrastructure: We provide the networks that keep everyone at UCE connected to each other and the outside world. We manage college Ethernet, which provides fast links between systems. We also maintain the links to the internet. We provide the central infrastructure that allow students and staff to access internet through Wi-Fi using their mobile devices
College administration support: We provide the IT tools and systems that keep the University running – from student records and finance to fundraising, research grant management and human resources. As well as making sure these systems are operating smoothly, we provide and manage access to them and offer training and documentation for the people who use them.
Training Support: We provide it resources, both classroom-based and online, for all staff, academics and students at the college.
