Applications

The General Course

This follows a 2-5-2 model of teacher education, meaning     that students have two residential tutorial terms at the beginning of the course and the other two at the end of the course. Students then spend five terms on Teaching Practice. This is punctuated by two-week vacation Courses. Students also get Distance Education Learning material from various subject areas.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must have a minimum of 5 O’Level subjects with a grade C or better including Mathematics and English Language. However, there are restrictions against the combination of overlapping O’Level subjects.

The Early Childhood Development (ECD)

The Early Childhood Development course follows the 2-5-2 model of Teacher Education, just like the General Course.

Entry Requirements

SPECIAL NEEDS EDUCATION PROGRAMME (SNE)

This is a sixteen-month programme offered to already practicing teachers who are diploma holders with at least four years teaching experience.    

Students spend two terms (8 months) attending lectures at the college, go for one term on Teaching Practice and come back to college for their last term (4 months). This programme equips the teachers with skills and methodologies to manage the learning environment of children with special needs. Currently, four areas of specialization are on offer, which are Visual Impairment, Hearing Impairment, Mental Retardation, and Learning Disabilities.

Entry Requirements

The applicants are required to be holders of a Certificate or Diploma in Education obtained from an approved institution. The applicant must also have at least four years of teaching experience.
